Bitmap
JPG: JPG is a image file type.jpg stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group. The file type was created to make it easier to to share compressed images. This allows to make it easier to share pictures and designs throughout the internet. Although the quality of the picture does lower when compressed.
PNG: PNG or Portable Network Graphic is a raster image file used mostly in photoshop. A raster image file is a rectangular array of regularly sampled values, known as pixels. PNG are also created for the internet which allows images to be compressed but it also them to be compressed without losing any quality.
GIF: GIF or Graphic Interchange Format was first created by a computer scientist in 1987.GIF are used for small animations and low-resolution video clips.
BMP: BMP or bitmap is a raster file that is designed to display high quality images.
PSD: PSD or Photoshop document is an image file that related to the photoshop application. It also the user to to make images that support multiple images layers and image options.
TIFF: TIFF or Tag Image File Format is a computer file that is used to store raster graphics and image information. TIFF store high quality images before being used to edit on.
HEIC: HEIC or High Efficiency Image File Format is mostly used in apple devices. HEIC allows for high-quality images compress and store images across your devices. HEIC since its mainly used in apple its is not compatible with the majority of non-Apple devices.
PSB: A PSB file is also referred to as the Adobe Photoshop Large Document Format. The difference between this file and of PSD is that PSB allows for a bigger file size. These are used for when there is a large project or assignment.
Camera raw: Camera Raw contains uncompressed and unprocessed image data. This means that it contains high level of image detail with a large file size without losing any quality
Vector
AI: AI is also known as Adobe Illustrator Artwork file. Its mainly used for just Adobe Illustrator.
PDF: PDF is also known a Portable Document Format is used to keep or maintain the fonts, graphics layout of original documents.PDF make it easier to share documents between different application and platforms allowing for easy access.
SVG:SVG is also referred as Scalable Vector Graphics is a vector file format. This file stores images through mathematical formulas depending on the points and lines on a grid
INDD: When using InDesign the INDD file is the source of your work and where it will be located. Its the default file type for InDesign.
EPS: EPS stands for Encapsulated Postscript. Its a file format that was created by Adobe to serve the needs of designers and printers. It was used for high quality picture printing.
AIT: AIT or also known as Adobe Illustrator Template is a file that includes drawing content, settings pictures and layouts.
Layout
IMDD: Used of InDesign Document that maintains every element in your layout of the document. This allows to edit projects or design in InDesign.
IDMI: It maintains elements and attributes of objects and properties of adobe InDesign
