25 pencil sketches

    When creating the 25 pencil sketches I was at first struggling with what logo designs to create. For the first portion of the 2 period class I was at a loss not knowing what to really do. I was starting to regret my business concept and was planning on changing it. My initial idea for my brand was to be related to the electronic industry. The main product of the brand was the creation and use of holograms. When attempting to sketch my own concept of holograms it was difficult as I didn't know were to start. Although I start to get some ideas by doing some research of current business and design that were already created. There were some design that I was inspired by that I recreated in the sketches such as the design from 16-19. These 4 and the first design I made in my opinion were the best ones out of the 25 sketches. The other ones I have created really lacked effort and creativity. I just created them as fillers cause I already known which I wanted to recreated in illustrator. Even though I struggle to created anything in the being am at least glad I stuck with my business concept.

Electronics Roughs 

    For the electronic roughs we had to chose 5 ideas of the 25 different sketches created in pencil and recreate them in illustrator. This assignment took around two weeks to complete as it was around the time of midwinter recess. When it came to recreated the designs in illustrator I primary focused on the logo it self and not on my logo name. Although important my business name "Digify" doesn't tell the whole story about my business. For my business to become well known I would need to created a strong logo that show what my product is. That's why my font for my business name is regular Arial font for each of my designs. The creation of the logos were difficult to make different alterations of since I had to change different layers and shapes for each of the 5 logos will all together having 25 designs. For some of the designs I did small changes and other some big changes with it including changes in color, changes in structure and changes where I put the business name. Overall these designs were a massive improvement from what they were originally on paper and I'm glad about the way they turn out.

2 selects

    Out of the 5 designs that we had to create with each having 5 different alterations we had to then choose 5 of those designs to present to the class. Upon presenting our designs to the whole class they would vote on which designs they like. The 2 designs that had the highest amount of votes would be the last two before choosing the final. The last two designs he had to created 25 designs  for each of them. Although I wasn't even close in created 50 designs all together as I was struggling to create different designs of the two. I then just decided to focus on just 1 design with different alterations. I created around 18 designs for the one I mainly focused on. Out of all of them I chose the 4th.The fourth one in the screenshot is the one with a blue circle, the 2 curved white lines and the white "Digify" name. This one was the one I chose because its a basic straight to the point logo that when anyone see it they will understand what it is. Also the other logos have to much clutter which may confuse the customers  on what my business is.

10 tweaks

    Since my logo is basic for the 10 tweaks part of the assignment we had to design ten variations, utilizing leading, tracking, kerning, border/margin widths and other aspects of negative space. Although for the design I chose this would be a challenge to do. This part of the assignment would be directly towards the use of fonts and to the typography of the design. Since my name Digify is only one word it was limited in different variations of designs. The best I could have done was to change the placement of 2 certain things in my design. The changes was in the white curves and in the text. The text I change the placement  around the design like make it under the white curves, to the side or  in the middle of the white curves. I would also attach the text to the curve lines to make the text curve with the line to make it interesting. As for the curved lines I change the direction of each of them to make them different. Some would face to side, some would face the left and some were closer to others. Overall out of the 10 I have made  I prefer the 1st one that I have created. 

Final Design/Decision

    After weeks of doing this assignment with a lot of set back when make all of these different sketches and variation of multiple designs. I have finally chosen the final design for my logo that represent my business of "Digify". The design that I chosen from the 10 tweaks assignments was the first design of the 10. This is my  final design because of how basic and simple it is. Since its more simple and basic it is more memorable for the customers. If my logo was more complex and filled with more clutter then  it be harder for people to familiarize themselves with it even though its would be a good. Another thing is that have a simple logo requires less time to make needing less elements to it. Meanwhile other company's with have very creative logos which would make harder to stand out with other competitors in the same industry. Although the design of mine is simple it could be difficult to attract customers at the same time as they have a limited idea of what my business will be about but that how advertisements will help support my business showing more creativity in it.
